Traditionally Built Environments are associated with architecture and interior design; however, studio3eight acknowledges that the built form is not just the realm of these talented practitioners. We welcome integrated landscape design and biophilic design whilst deeply analysing how our proposals sit in the urban environment. A building does not just sit on its own, it is integrated within the greater context, the local eco system and the cultural fabric of its location.
Place Making

When we think of Place Making at studio3eight, we consider all the myriad experiences and outcomes that make a place really work. Is it ecologically sound? Is it safe to walk? Are the plant species appropriate, for shade, for people, for the local flora and fauna? Do they reduce heat? We consider traffic and pedestrian circulation, we consider the impact of the built zones as well as the public spaces and how they interact. We consider civil work and how it may be a net benefit to the environment whilst making living more comfortable and minimising investment cost. Driven by landscape architects and urban designers working alongside our other design professionals, we believe real success happens when the big picture is embedded at every level of the design process.

At studio3eight we know that we have a huge responsibility to do better, to learn from the best and avoid mistakes of the past. This is why we actively engage with Universities – not only to teach but to learn and be inspired by the next generation. We attend and present at conferences that drive the knowledge of our profession forward, we share that knowledge with our clients through consulting and feasibility work, and with the public through our published articles.
